If you never heard of TopCoder, it is one of online judges for algorithm competition. These days they held a very big event, TopCoder College Competition 2006, and currently it has finished semifinal round and tomorrow we will watch who is the best college programmer in the world.
The interesting thing is the final will be broadcasted via internet and will be presented by a sport presenter. He is not a random presenter, he is ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap. I guess we can hope that the show will be very interesting and attractive.
There is one programmer from Indonesia that is going to the onsite competition. Yeah, he is Ardian KP, the man who wins Google Code Jam India 2005 and 2006. This time, I watch him and other competitors in Wildcard Round, the last round before the Grand Final. Two of them who get the highest point will be advanced to the Final, along with 6 other contestants who are already advanced.
Not only algorithm programmers that are going to the on site competition. Beside them, there are also the best component designers and developers, two bloggers that write about the competition, and one that refers the most members to TCCC 2006.
The favorite for the alogorithm competition is of course the winner of Top Coder Open 2006, Petr, who in the semifinal wins with more than 650 point from the second position. If no surprise happen, I’m sure he will be the winner. In the semifinal, he already break his rating record and now his rating is 3505, number one in TopCoder.
Update: Yes… it is official, Ardian KP is going to the Grand Final.
